There are no moderate Muslims

    On January 4, 2011, Taseer was assassinated in Islamabad by his own security guard who disagreed with Taseer’s opposition to Pakistan’s blasphemy law. Salmaan Taseer was governor of Punjab and was against blasphemy law. He condemned the death sentence of a Christian woman Asia Bibi who had been sentenced to death by hanging for insulting The Prophet of Islam. (Islam is The Religion of Peace – it’s enough to insult The Prophet for getting you hanged.)

Mumtaz Qadri became a national hero after killing Taseer.

By the evening, Qadri’s picture had replaced a thousand profile pictures on Facebook. He was a mujahid, a lion, a true hero of Islam^[1]

The schism in Pakistani society was further underlined when Taseer’s assassin,Mumtaz Qadri, was showered with rose petals when he was produced in court.Lawyer Farooq Sulehria said, ”We will provide all legal support to Mumtaz Qadri and fight for him. Qadri’s supporters won’t fail him in the court.”^[2]

A fan page appeared on Facebook soon after the assassination in support of Malik Mumtaz Hussain Qadri, showing news photos of him smiling. The fan page soon gathered thousands of supporters.

Several people also denounced the perpetrator creating a page named “I Hate Malik Mumtaz Qadri,” but in contrast the page only managed to get a few fans with no comments or discussions. [wiki]

Hindustan Times: Taseer killer turns hero on Facebook

Hundreds of Facebook users welcomed the killing of liberal Pakistani politician Salman Taseer as a strike against reformers of the country’s tight blasphemy laws. Nearly 2,000 Facebook users joined one group on the social networking site
praising Qadri, and dozens of “fans” joined other pages set up in Qadri’s honour in the hours after the shooting.

Private account holders used their Facebook status updates to make comments such as: “We salute you Mumtaz Qadri,” “thank God he (Taseer) is not alive (any) more” and praise for the attacker as “a soldier of Islam”.

In a sign of mainstream media opposition, Pakistan’s leading Urdu-language newspaper, Jang, ran a front-page story declaring: “There should be no funeral for Salman Taseer and no condemnation for his death.”

“A supporter of a blasphemer is also a blasphemer,” said a sub-heading, reporting that 500 religious scholars and clerics had paid tribute to Qadri.

But voices also came out to denounce the gunman, and Facebook page named “I Hate Malik Mumtaz Hussain Qadri” had 70 “fans” with no comments or discussions

Hmmmm…interesting ..last time I visited that fanpage on Facebook there were 3000+ fans of Mumtaz Qadri while only 70 in opposition. Now we can safely assume that internet is free for all. Then why only 70 in opposition while 3000+ in support. Also all these 70 are not Muslims, many of them are Christians-who supported Salmaan Taseer for speaking in favour of Aisa Bibi and Ahmadiyya Muslims- who condemn blasphemy law and have been the victims of these laws.

The murder of Salmaan Taseer and the subsequent support for Mumtaz Qadri shows that the so-called moderate or peaceful Muslims don’t exist. There are only two types of Muslims: the first are the types of Mumtaz Qadri, who commit terrorist activities, one can call them – terrorist Muslims or Active Muslims.

The second type of Muslims are those who want to kill people like Salmaan Taseer but are not in the position, power or don’t have the resources for doing so. We can call them – passive Muslims, not-yet-terrorist Muslims or potential-terrorist Muslims because it highly likely that one of those 3000 supporters of Mumtaz Qadri will kill another Salmaan Taseer.

Another point is the number of these moderate Muslims – it’s less than 1% considering that many of the 70 were either Christians or Ahmadiyyas. So the percentage of moderate Muslims is less than 1%
