Tension prevailed in an area in Bijapur on Monday after groups belonging different communities clashed during victory rally organised by BJP, police said.Eight people injured and many shops roadside vendors were destroyed in the clash.Security has been tightened in the city following the clash with the district administration implementing ban orders for three days from Monday evening under section 144, police said.

They shouted the slogans while being taken back to jail after the court hearing.

12 Year old Hindu boy kidnapped and burned alive by Muslims in India

A 12-year-old schoolboy was burnt alive in broad daylight on Monday in Punjab’s Malerkotla township, trigerring local protests that blocked the highway connecting Ludhiana and Patiala. Malerkotla is a Muslim-dominated area in Punjab.

The boy, identified as Vidhu Jain, was on his way to his brothers’ schools to drop his lunch box that he had forgotten home. In an unexpected turn, suspects kidnapped the boy and then poured petrol on his body before setting him on fire. He was brought to the local hospital with 100 percent burns and died.

The incident took place at around noon on Monday. The police say that the motive is being probed. Angry relatives and locals ransacked buses and blocked the highways in protest. The shopkeepers at Malerkotla and Dhuri observed complete shut down after the incident. No arrests have been made so far while investigations are underway.
The crime, sources said, could have also been committed for ransom. The family of the boy runs a departmental store in the township.

Following a recent argument over a kite string, two people burnt alive the 12-year-old son of a kite seller at Malerkotla in Sangrur district on Monday morning.

Vidhu Jain, a resident of Chota Chowk, received 100% burns and succumbed to them on his way to a private hospital in Ludhiana.

The incident took place around 11.30 am when Vidhu, a student of Class 7 at AS Jain School, was reportedly going to hand over the lunch box to his younger brother at Basant Valley School.

SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu said shopkeepers saw Vidhu, who was ablaze, running down the market lane and screaming in Nawab Da Bagh area and doused the fire.

“The boy was in a serious condition when the police reached the spot. In the presence of the police and his father Naveen Jain, Vidhu said two persons forcibly took him to an under-construction colony and set him ablaze,” Sidhu said, adding that one of the assailants was “purportedly minor”.

“According to the boy’s statement, he could not identify the two but could recognise them as he had had a heated argument with them over the kite string three days ago,” the SSP said.

“The boy told his father that the argument had taken place in the presence of their servant who was present at the shop, Sidhu said, adding that the police were trying to locate the servant who was missing after the incident.

The shopkeepers rushed the boy to a local hospital, where he was referred to the Ludhiana hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

As the word spread, people from all communities gathered and blocked the Ludhiana-Malerkotla and Patiala-Malerkotla roads. They also ransacked five buses and damaged a few two-wheelers. The police resorted to a mild lathicharge to disperse the protesters, who demanded the immediate arrest of the accused.

Ruling out the possibility of it being a communal attack, the SSP said they hoped to arrest the accused at the earliest. “Though a few people are trying to give it a communal colour, there was nothing of the sort,” he said.

Meanwhile, shopkeepers at Malerkotla and Dhuri observed a complete shutdown after the incident and joined the protest. Heavy police force from Barnala and Patiala districts was called in to avoid any untoward incident.

“The situation is tense but under control,” the SSP said.

Islamic terrorist killed 39 people in a mall attack in Nairobi, Kenya.

“The gunmen told Muslims to stand up and leave. They were safe, and non-Muslims would be targeted,” said witness Elijah Kamau who was shopping in the mall.

“They just came in and threw a grenade. We were running and they opened fire. They were shouting and firing,” said Jay Patel who was on an upper floor of the mall when the shooting began.

Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta, speaking in a nationally televised address today, said that at least 39 people were killed and at least 150 others were injured in the terror attack.

According to a U.S. official, eight to 12 gunmen may have initiated their attack by dropping grenades from a second floor balcony of the Westgate Mall before opening fire.

There were 30 American citizens, including embassy personnel, in the mall at the time of the attack, but they have all been evacuated and are accounted for, the official said. The are no reports of deaths among Americans.

Three Americans have been reported injured and were at a local hospital, the official said.

An American citizen’s father has been killed, but the father was not an American citizen, according to the official.

The wife of a USAID Foreign Service National was also killed, the official said.

A local hospital was overwhelmed with the number of wounded being brought in hours after the attack, so they had to divert them to a second facility.

Initially it was believed the gang were armed robbers but it soon became clear the attackers were targeting non-Muslims.

“The gunmen told Muslims to stand up and leave. They were safe, and non-Muslims would be targeted,” said witness Elijah Kamau who was shopping in the mall.

State Department Deputy Spokeswoman Marie Harf said U.S. officials were closely monitoring the situation.

“We condemn this senseless act of violence that has resulted in death and injury for many innocent men, women, and children. Our condolences go out to the families and friends of all victims. We have reports of American citizens injured in the attack, and the U.S. Embassy is actively reaching out to provide assistance,” Harf said in a statement.

A 12-year-old girl was killed on Friday allegedly by her father for refusing to marry a man of his choice, police said. They said the girl’s body was found chopped into six pieces.

Police said Muhammad Khadim, 46, a resident of Khoja area in Shujabad, had accepted his nephew’s proposal for his daughter six months ago.

They said his sister and brother-in-law had been pressing him to arrange the wedding.

They said his daughter Haseena, who was studying in grade 6, did not want to marry. Some relatives said that she had requested her father to let her finish college, but he had refused.

They said her mother Shahnaz Bibi, too, was against the early marriage. They said she had argued with her husband over the matter and was beaten up for it. They said he had accused her of brainwashing their daughter.

Shahnaz Bibi told The Express Tribune that on Friday, she had an argument with Khadim when he took up the matter again.

She said when he started beating her up, Haseena tried to stop him. She said he got infuriated and locked her in a room. When her mother-in-law tried to stop him, he locked her as well.

She said he kept shouting that “he should have killed Haseena the day she was born rather than face disobedience.

She said he took Haseena to another room saying he would convince her to marry his nephew. She said Haseena had been shouting for help, but then her screams stopped suddenly.

She said she and her mother-in-law cried for help, attracting the attention of some neighbours.

She said Khadim emerged from the room and tried to hit her, but left on seeing some neighbours enter the house.

She said she and her mother-in-law they were freed and rushed to the other room and found her daughter cut into pieces.
