Abolish haj subsidy in 10 years: Supreme Court to government

Posted by The Mindset on May 9, 2012

Finally Supreme Court of India has taken a good decision. Haj subsidy, the TAX PAYERS MONEY which was given to Muslims to fulfill their haj to Mecca will be abolished. My question is why in 10 years, why not NOW?

Times of India report: Abolish haj subsidy in 10 years: Supreme Court to government

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the Union government to gradually reduce and abolish haj subsidy in 10 years and invest the amount – averaging over Rs 650 crore a year for last five years – in education and other measures for social development of the minority community.
“We direct the Central government to progressively reduce the amount of subsidy so as to completely eliminate it within a period of 10 years from today,” said a bench of Justices Aftab Alam and Ranjana P Desai in an order that reflected a resolve which successive governments had failed to muster in the last 60 years. That the apex court had earlier upheld the constitutional validity of Haj subsidy only adds to the significance of the order.

My question is why in 10 years why not now? Muslims asked for their separate country in 1947 and got it. So they have no right over India’s resources.

Why Godse killed Gandhi ?

“His Principle of Peace Was Bogus”

Gopal Godse, brother of Nathuram Godse , looks back in anger–and without regret. On Jan. 30, 1948, Mohandas Gandhi was shot dead by Nathuram Godse. Godse believed that the Mahatma, or great soul, was responsible for the 1947 partition of India and the creation of Pakistan.
Godse and his friend Narayan Apte were hanged. His brother Gopal and two
others were sentenced to life imprisonment for their part in the conspiracy.
Gopal Godse remained in jail for 18 years and now, at 80, lives with his wife in a small apartment in Pune. He is still proud of his role in the murder. Although Godse is largely ignored in India and rarely talks to journalists, he agreed to speak with TIME Delhi correspondent Meenakshi Ganguly.
